Position Overview:
The IT Director is responsible for overseeing Nomad Internet’s core development infrastructure, including direct management of the Shopify Developer and General Developer. This role owns the execution of all technology projects tied to e-commerce performance, internal automation, site reliability, integrations, and security. The IT Director ensures that development cycles are prioritized correctly, code deployments are stable, and platform improvements align with company revenue, service, and support objectives. This is a strategic leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, with authority over the entire web development and technical implementation roadmap.
1. Team Oversight & Technical Leadership
Directly manage and support the Shopify Developer and General Developer
Set weekly priorities and ensure sprint goals are tied to operational and CRO impact
Review pull requests, assign tasks, and manage development timelines
Enforce code quality, documentation, and testing standards
Ensure developers have clear instructions, access, and documentation for all systems
2. Shopify & E-Commerce Infrastructure
Own all front-end and back-end updates to the Shopify environment
Ensure storefront, checkout flows, product configurations, and integrations are functional and optimized
Coordinate with Marketing and CRO to deploy theme changes, landing pages, and upsell offers
Track app performance, manage third-party integrations, and oversee data flow integrity
Approve all changes to live site environments and lead issue triage when errors arise
3. Internal Tools & Automation
Oversee development of internal dashboards, reporting logic, and automation between systems (e.g., CRM, shipping, billing)
Work with Director of Operations to identify manual workflows that can be digitized
Approve data handling processes, access control rules, and error monitoring systems
Ensure all business-critical workflows are documented, monitored, and owned
4. Technical Roadmap & Security Governance
Maintain a prioritized IT roadmap aligned to company goals
Enforce platform stability, uptime monitoring, and backup procedures
Manage security permissions, data access tiers, and developer environment separation
Lead any infrastructure migration, architecture planning, or third-party platform transition initiatives
Coordinate with Accounting and HR to manage tool subscriptions and license renewals
Key Objectives & Results (OKRs):
Objective 1: Strengthen Developer Output and Accountability
Launch weekly sprint planning and reporting by Week 2
Enforce standardized documentation for all tasks, bugs, and deployments
Reduce backlog rollover rate by 50% within 30 days
Objective 2: Optimize Shopify Infrastructure
Resolve all active storefront bugs and performance issues by Week 4
Implement CRO-approved site updates within 48 hours of submission
Maintain 99.9% uptime and under 2-second page load on all devices
Objective 3: Automate Manual Workflows Across Departments
Identify top 5 manual workflows by Week 3
Deploy automation or tooling to reduce task time by 50%
Document internal tool stack and dependencies by Day 60
Objective 4: Enforce IT Security and Operational Discipline
Implement admin-level access audit by Week 2
Finalize backup protocols and recovery plan by Week 6
Ensure all developers follow staging/live deployment processes with rollback tracking
Position Requirements:
Must manage daily developer operations and execution against the technology roadmap
Must maintain Shopify, automation systems, and internal tool reliability
Must ensure development work aligns with business goals, security standards, and scalability
Must be available during U.S. business hours with ability to resolve urgent issues quickly
Required Qualifications:
7+ years in web development or IT management, including team oversight
Deep expertise in Shopify theme structure, Liquid, APIs, and performance optimization
Proven ability to lead technical teams through e-commerce improvements and internal automation
Experience managing developers, enforcing version control, and ensuring stable rollouts
Strong understanding of data flow between systems, including billing, CRM, and fulfillment platforms
Familiarity with security best practices and technical documentation discipline
Excellent communication skills with ability to bridge technical and business priorities
